Exeter Aquatics

Exeter Aquatics has been established for over 25 years. For the last six years it has been run by Simon Orr and his wife, Pat.

Simon and Pat told Practical Fishkeeping: "Once the tropical fish side was refurbished a marine section was added. Having kept tropical fish for over 25 years and marines for the large part, Simon has a wide knowledge of fishkeeping, especially marines, and has a 350 gallon SPS reef tank in his living room.

"In the fresh water part of the shop we keep a wide selection of general community fish, and some more difficult-to-keep species such as dwarf cichlids, L-number plecs and killifish. We also keep fancy goldfish and brackish water fish. To complement this we also have a 700 litre plant cascade, with bunched plants from Singapore and potted plants from Tropica.

"In the marine section you will find a wide selection of fish from angel and butterflyfish for fish-only systems, down to the smallest pygmy gobies for nano reefs, along with a wide selection of hard and soft coral, mobile inverts and live rock.

"We also have an extensive range of dry goods and hardware, from companies like Aquatronica, Tunze, ab Aqua Medic, Deltec, TMC, Aqua One, Juwel and Ehiem. As well as all the usual fishkeeping equipment like nets, gravel cleaners, filters and filter spares, heaters, frozen and dry food, we stock a wide range of metric and imperial pipe work and fittings, RO units and spares, additives and water treatments from Seachem and Tetra etc, and pecialist foods from Dainichi and New Era.

"So if you're looking for a calcium reactor with CO2 for a 1500 litre reef tank, or an air line T piece, you should find it here. We pride ourselves in the fact that we will not knowingly sell you inappropriate fish or equipment you don't need.

"An aquarium adds a memorable feature to any reception or work place. It is dramatic, colourful aquarium feature to any reception or work place. An aquarium is also entertaining to visitors and a conversation point to staff. An aquarium is also relaxing for people in waiting areas and in any stressful environment."
