| Established in May 2008 Daydream Discus continues to grow to meet the needs of our customers. Primarily a Discus specialist we also provide mainly bread and butter fish but do stock more specialised/rarer species as well, (mainly because Sye cant help himself when he sees something that takes his fancy). We have recently installed a small marine section mainly catering for nano tanks. 4 new pond vats have also been installed to cater for the outdoor side of the hobby. We source our fish mainly from the UKs finest wholesalers and all fish are quarantined / rested prior to sale. Our discus are from Jorg Stendker in Germany and are kept in a dedicated 500 gallon system in treated tap water with a general hardness of 12, carbonate hardness of 6 and a pH of 7.3. We also breed fish onsite and customers can quite often view discus fry/juveniles at various stages of development. Display tanks offer both inspiration and education, from our 200 gallon fancy goldfish tank to our 10 gallon planted featherfin rainbow fish display. Having been hobbyists for over a decade before opening our shop we have tried and tested a lot of products on the market, this has given us good knowledge of what is available and how they work (or not in some cases). Our ever expanding dry goods range is chosen personally and tested by us before going on sale. If we do not think it works or offers value for money then we won’t sell it. Future plans are for a fish breeding rack in the main shop area so customers can share our fish breeding exploits. We will or course be breeding plenty of livebearers but also cannot wait to start breeding bettas, tetras and anything else that takes our fancy. This will also provide futher inspiration and education to newcomers and give them a more detailed insight into the wonderful world of fish keeping.
