Coxwell Aquatics

Shropshire-based Coxwell Aquatics told Practical Fishkeeping that the store was very new, having only opened in December 2007: "We aim to offer an excellent range of fish and dry goods, backed up with first class advice, so as to quickly gain a reputation as 'the place to visit.' Our current customer feedback suggests we are doing things correctly, but we will not rest on our laurels.

"You will always be confident of finding a wide range of healthy fish, including some species rarely seen in the UK," the store added. "An important part of any store is its ability to quarantine fish, and we have a dedicated quarantine area allowing us to ensure that all our fish are healthy and properly acclimatised before sale. Indeed, Coxwell Aquatics is owned by a veterinary surgeon and so disease control and health of stock is a passion!"

Coxwell Aquatics said that it sources all fish from reputable suppliers, and hand picks its own marine fishes, and often has a selection of ethically sourced wild fish to offer to keen breeders.

"To continue the ethical theme, we will only supply species are compatible with being kept in a home environment. We do not stock tank busters, so you'll find no 'common plecs' on sale here, but we can order any fish if you can prove to us that you are able to offer it a suitable long-term home. We have no problem in refusing to sell fish to unsuitable homes!

"All of our staff are enthusiastic fishkeepers with well over 100 years of combined fishkeeping knowledge between them. You can be confident that all advice given is genuine and impartial. Each staff member has their own area of expertise (catfish, dwarf cichlids, planted tanks, marines etc) and between us we will be able to answer your fishkeeping queries.

"Some beautiful display aquaria are present to inspire, but if you need a hand replicating the some effect at home, no problem, we will come and help. We believe out shop is something special, come and see for yourself."
