| Deep Blue Aquatics in Hinckley, Leicestershire, is a marine specialist but also stocks tropical freshwater and coldwater fish, too. Owner Steve Mullin told Practical Fishkeeping that it was a relatively new shop, having been open for just 18 months: "We try to fulfil all your needs, but we specialise in marine fish, coral and inverts. All of our tropical fish come from the wholesaler Neil Hardy Aquatica, while our marines come from Tropical Marine Centre, but we also import marines directly, so you can order any fish from us. "We have a massive 8' x 2' x 3' coral bed that you see as soon as you walk through the door. We also have an 8'x 30" x 30" marine display tank, linked to the coral bed tank, for a combined total of about 600 gallons. Our filtration is second to none, consisting of a TMC System 5000 and Red Dragon Bubble King skimmers. You have to see it to believe it!" Steve explained that among their services were "fish sits", in which they look after your aquarium while you are on holiday, and a tank design and build service. "We are independent, so we are not restricted to any particular brands, we just give you the best you can afford. We are members of the Ornamental Aquatic Trade Association (OATA) and have signed up to the Practical Fishkeeping Dyed Fish Campaign. We try to be the best in what we do, so we are always learning." |
