| Aquahome aquatic centre is based in Leyland and stocks a wide range of tropical, marine, inverts, pond and coldwater fish species, as well as a huge selection of dry goods and associated equipment. Store manager - Stuart Critchley of Aquahome told Practical Fishkeeping that the store has expanded every 6 months from opening and is now more than double the size it originally opened as: "Since opening in 2005 we have undergone expansion after expansion which has being hard work to say the least but well worth the effort. Our customers constantly tell us how impressed they are with the quality of our fish and how clean our tanks always look. Now we have a large marine section which includes a 12ft wall of corals, tanks packed with only the best live rock available, a good selection of inverts and a packed marine fish section. We also have a state of the art filtration system to ensure you get only the best quality fish. This boasts a 6ft tall skimmer, ozone, a huge UV steriliser and a digital heater - it's really impressive. We stock everything from the most common clown to the most unusual, and have an ever-increasing range of dry goods, a great range of skimmers, pumps, UVs, salt, additives and lots more at competitive prices. As well as our marine section, we also have a new tank display room showing off some of the newest and best quality aquariums available most set-up as live displays" The shop stocks all major brands of aquariums, accessories and equipment and has a good selection of contemporary and traditional aquarium furniture. Says Stuart: "If you're after a new tank and cabinet then you've come to the right place. We have a great range of standard and made-to-measure tanks and cabinets which can be colour matched to fit in with your furniture or decor. Our specialists help piece together a complete package deal for you from the most basic set-up to house a goldfish to a full-blown reef aquarium. With well over 200 tanks packed with livestock, Stuart says that Aquahome aims to stock nearly every type of community fish and a variety of different catfish and African and South American cichlids, a massive selection of marine livestock, 12ft of corals to choose from, as well as aquarium plants and some of the more unusual fish, such as L-number plecs. "If we don't have what you're after, let us know and we'll get them in for you!" he says. The shop has also has a large indoor coldwater section due to customer demand. Chris Haigh, assistant manager and pond expert told us: "We now have a huge system dedicated to bringing you the widest varieties of fancy goldfish, such as orandas, ryukins, lion heads, pearlscales and more, all different sizes and of top quality. We also stock the more common coldwater fish, such as comets, shubunkins, Koi, Borneo suckers and other loaches." Chris also says that in 2007, the shop added a brand new outdoor pond area housing quality Koi, goldfish and other pond fish species. "We aim to give our customers the best selection in the north west – not just Lancashire," he says, "So, come and visit us.
