The Practical Fishkeeping website is designed, programmed, written and edited by Matt Clarke.
The fish photography on this website is the work of Practical Fishkeeping's photographer, Neil Hepworth.
Quite a few readers have asked how the site was made. The templates were hand-coded in XHTML with CSS used for styling and positioning. The backend system, and all of the calculators and other gadgetry, were written in PHP4 in the Quanta editor on Debian Linux. The backend is MySQL, with a few bits of XML-based jiggery-pokery for remote web services, as well as the odd bit of AJAX.
