Bull shark rescued from park pond

A Bull shark that had been seen swimming in a freshwater pond at a park in Florida, has been caught and set free.

The shark had been evading trappers at the Brevard County pond since Monday. They had tried luring it with bait and deployed bird-scaring fireworks to try and force it to the surface.

After four days, the 1m/40in female shark was finally caught in a hand held net and driven to a boat ramp on the nearby Indian River. Rescuers cut a hook from her mouth — probably the one used by whoever had caught the shark and dumped her in the landlocked pond in the first place. She was then set free in the Indian River.
