Man stole fish from aquarium to win competition

A man stole a bass from a Guernsey aquarium - and then used it to win a fishing competition.

Matthew Andrew Clark of St Sampson, took the bass, weighing in at 13.3lb from The Guernsey Aquarium at St. Peter Port, where the fish had been resident for over 15 years. He then entered it into the Bailiwick Bass Club open competition, where it won first prize - netting him £800.

He initially denied stealing the fish, but later admitted theft and fraud.

Clark was given 100 hours of community service and put on probation for two years.
