A man whose soaking wet trousers attracted the attention of airport officials in New Zealand was found to be concealing bags of fish inside them.
The man, who is a resident of Vietnam and had been travelling from Australia to Auckland, was stopped by airport officials when they noticed his bulging trousers were dripping with water.
When questioned he said he'd been thirsty, so had carried some water from the plane. However, when searched he was found to be concealing seven cichlids in plastic bags, which had begun to leak.
He then told officials he had been bringing them into the country for a friend.
He will face charges under New Zealand's strict Biosecurity Act, which carries maximum penalties of five years in jail or a £50,000 fine.
The species of cichlid concerned hasn't been identified.
