yes.
for me i only use the low ph range. but it always gives me a different but much lower reading compared to my pH alert "in tank" inidactor, and the jbl test kit.

Just thought I ought bto mention mollies really don't prefer low ph, I wouldn't lower the ph on account of geting mollies.

i'm no expert on mollies but I know they prefer an alkaline ph and I feel fairly sure like you that many people to use the addition of salt for them. Certainly one should not be lowering the ph to below 7.0 and I would think 7.2 or above would be more realistic.

Oh dear, I think that must be a miss print, perhaps it's supposed to read 7.8 either that or even API are misinformed.. If in doubt post a question in the tropical fish section of the forum I would hate to be giving the wrong info, but I feel I'm right.

Mollies liking acid water! first time I have read that lol. Real sorry I missed that bit in your posts.
Mollies
This seems reasonably accurate to me.
http://www.fishlore.com/Profiles-Mollies.htm

Quotes a range for em
pH : 7.5 - 8.5
Temperature : 70°F - 82°F (21°C - 28°C)
Water Hardness : 10° to 25° dH,

Happy in brackish water too.
No need to have tried to lower your pH and salt will not bother them one bit.
