You would be very surprised what actually has to happen to animals before the RSPCA CAN LEGALLY take action.

Default Response From The Bbc

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding "Don't tell the bride".

I would like to thankyou for your feedback concerning the use of fish as table decorations. However, by showing this element the BBC was not endorsing the practice. Indeed, the programme team followed RSPCA guildlines on this issue and I can asure you that the fish are all safe and well.

Nevertheless, I fully appreciate that you feel strongly about this matter. Therefore I would like to assure you that we have registered your comments on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we complile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are ciculated and considered across the BBC.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact us with your views.

Regards

Paul Hunter

At least they replied. Maybe theyll send out an apology OTA if they get enough complaints like they had too for the "Weekend Nazi" programme a few years back.

Hope they really do consider the comments,
I suppose what's needed is to raise awareness with the general public
And make a fuss with say promeminet industry magazines, I can think of one i subscribe to that might help.
A general code of pratice maybe for fish shops, informing punter they have duty to care for the fish they buy. I dunno. Might help?

I suppose writing to the RSPCA at this point would be a wise move see what they say about contact with the bbc on this isssue.

Makes sense - one reply which has been checked by higher management is better than many differing statements that may reveal a slip up or personal feeling.

Id be interested to know if anyone complained without getting the idea from a forum - ie sent an email straight away after the program finished. Id also like to know exactly how many peope have complained.

huff

So just watched it fully, some guy wants to take some fish on board a plane but when he's told he cant,he says 'Im going to flush them then!' & the guy runs off to the toilet with the airport attendant running after him,the bloke gets into the toilets, takes the fish out of the bag, dumps them in the toilet then flushes it.The attendant is shocked & laughing at the same time (Which i find disgusting). They dont go after the man & report him to the RSPCA!The attendant calls another person to help him, they fill a bag with water & when the bloke puts his hand down the toilet,it sets off the automatic flush, one fish gets flushed away (Which he laughs about again),he rescues one then in the end manages to rescue the second fish. The woman who helped get the fish out of the toilet is taking the 2 fish home. But they were laughing about it,i find it horrid that they laughed!

I know from experience that sometimes all you can do is laugh.

A couple of years back my dad(who has a terrible temper and always thinks he is right) decided to have a go at drive thru takeaway, he insisted his food should be immediately in his hand and refused to move away and let them serve someone else before he had his food.
This was extremely embarressing as the I used to go to school with the girl serving, I was mortified at his behaviour but all I could do was laugh.
I had to go back a few days later to apologise for his disgusting behaviour.
