Thing is, do people go into a shop looking for specific title (I do) or are they likely to just be browsing and suddenly see PFK and buy on impulse?
I think with our hobby be specific, people know what they are looking for, so making it obvious is important. Put PFK in every Tropical / Coldwater / Marine outlet that will sell it - that is where fishkeepers go with their pocket money. Last edited by Mark Evenden : 4th November 2009 at 11:52 PM. |

One thing I have noticed is the lack of magazine being sold in aquatic shops. You would think that would be the first place to buy such magazine. Should be subscibing soon anyway so no need to worry then.

yes i have just subscribed, because my local new agent only keeps a limited number and i not going to go driving around town for a magazine, it has also surprised me why a fish keeping magazine is not sold in a fish/petstore.
in the modelling world every model shops sells all the modelling magazines.

If you want to suggest to your local retailer that they ought to start stocking the magazine that would be great! They just need to call the office and we'll pass on their details to the distribution company.

I think a distribution "option" would be to ask aquatic wholsalers to disribute the magazine to LFS.
Reason is simple, most LFS will have weekly orders / deliveries from various wholesalers around the country. It would just be so simple to add "PFK x 6" to the order, then a couple more the following week and so on. This would keep distribution costs to a minimum, and get the product where it has best chance of selling to for instance, new fish keepers. I do wonder for example how new fish keepers would actually even know about the magazine ? As has been documented in this thread it is not the easiest to find, but if you go to a LFS to start the hobby, buying a magazine from that store is probable.....likewise if retailers are aware of up and coming features,or manufacturer promotions they can ensure they have the correct stock available. I of course appreciate the logistics involved and the need for co-operation at all levels. You do as somebody said get model mags in model shops, horsey mags in saddleries......
